Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for questions to be asked about his position following a further convincing defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Talks with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the trust. But I've not talked to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period like this with outcomes this poor.”

He concluded, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
