Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The latest action-packed instalment that audiences experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for embracing violence and mayhem with equal glee, all while presenting engaging, socially charged tales. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two creators whose work have exemplified all of those things.

Show Details

Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' format by having a new backdrop and group of personalities in every instalment.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we do not know what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their steady belief and support.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a version on a premise,” said Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can shift from season to season, while always exploring the core of humanity through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m eager to work with Rob and present our mutual bold, visionary sensibility to the screen.”

A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
