Former Doctor Faces Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
Authorities have asked individuals with information to get in touch with the relevant police force.
