Beloved Star Pat Finn, Known For Parts in Seinfeld and The Middle, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs such as "Friends", "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, according to news outlets.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his family said in a statement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".

A Notable TV Career

His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.

He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He starred as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous hit series, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

His most famous role for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles include It's Complicated and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-member improv team called "Beer Shark Mice".

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils during his career and it would be difficult to find a person anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he posted online.

The actor is leaves behind his partner Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
